National Immunization Awareness Month in August
To help keep our community safe, CareBuilders at Home is participating in National Immunization Awareness Month. Everyone benefits from immunizations and vaccinations, which help protect from serious disease.
In the U.S., vaccines have greatly reduced or eliminated many infectious diseases that once routinely killed or harmed many infants, children, and adults. However, the viruses and bacteria that cause vaccine preventable disease and death still exist and can be passed on to people who are not protected by vaccines. Some of the most common diseases we see in 2016 are flu, measles, and pneumonia. It is important to know which vaccines you need and when to get them.
It is very important for the safety of the public to educate the communities we service on the importance of immunizations. Oddly enough many people believe this only applies to children, but the truth is vaccinations are critical for all age groups. Everyone age six months and older should receive a flu vaccine every year. Other vaccines work best when they are given at certain ages. Use the charts in this article to make sure you are up to date.
Talk to your doctor or nurse to make sure that everyone in your family is protected through immunization. Keep your family and our community healthy.
